Our automotive consultancy client based in the Midlands is looking to recruit a Principal Manufacturing Engineer due to their current person retiring.



The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will be technically responsible for the delivery of all projects associated with their team, this will include: 

Providing customers with quality technical solutions to meet their requirements.

To manage the timing and delivery of each project according to the quoted deliverables.

Change management, within projects as well as in relation to company requirements, technically, commercially and from a timing perspective.

To manage resource within their team, including staff, skills and equipment.

To report their teams performance in the weekly and monthly management meetings. 

To support business planning and forecasting for the future development of the business.

To “Lead” their team through problem resolution and where required to ask assistance on behalf of the team where difficult problems require skills/experience beyond the team.

To develop and grow the team to suit the needs of the business as directed by the Board of Directors.

To develop team members skills progressively, through personal mentoring and through outside training if required (as required by the business). 

To directly interface with the associated customers, ensuring that the requirements of the projects are delivered as per the delivered quotations.

To ensure that all customer related projects have Purchase Order coverage for the correct value as per the quotation and negotiations process.

To ensure the team upholds TS16949 and other specific in-house systems.

To uphold the company’s core values. 

Lead PFMEA and Risk Assessments within manufacturing and support DFMEA to ensure continuous improvement feedback loop.

Develop best practice processes for continuous feedback, lessons learnt and general manufacturing engineering principles.

Develop best practice methodologies in ’design for manufacture’ principles. 

Develop and maintain relationships between manufacturing and design engineering departments that allow full and seamless interaction between all departments at varying stages of projects that maximize design, cost saving, production, multi-platform and added value carry-over engineering potential at every opportunity.




Experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering within a specialist subject which is appropriate for their position.

Computer literate in all tools required to deliver their specialist role.

Have significant project management experience.

Demonstrate the ability to grow and develop team members.


Degree qualified or above.

HNC/HND qualified with relevant experience.

Team satisfaction.
